EXPERIANCE DESIGN LAB

PRELIMINARY CONCEPTUALISATION EXERCISE: DESIGNING THE APPLE

An exploratory project developed within the Experience Design Laboratory unit at the University of Sydney.

The assignment involved taking the interaction aesthetics of a chosen software service or product—partly based on its stated design principles—and applying them to a physical object, such as a bicycle, a rotary telephone, an exercise machine, or a bus stop.

The goal was to develop conceptual thinking within the creative process, through research, exploration, and analysis of the aesthetic qualities of existing products. It also aimed to help to analyse and synthesise the logic of interaction, while building a clear understanding of the differences between interaction, function, functionality, and the expression of interaction.
